November Notations

One Step at a Time
One Earth we live on, one sky that is blue, and the grass that is perfectly green almost each season long. What would happen if that was not there and you can’t get it back. The future kids are not going to have long lives because of the diseases that are due to pollution and dirty air. Fortunate for them, there are steps to save our planet, but you have to first care about it and understand what is happening. How could you not care, for you are the only person that could have fixed it, but you didn’t so now it is gone. This is what is going to happen if you do not start to care. We can save our planet One Step at a Time.
Step one to save your planet, save water. If we flush a toilet in our house 10 times that is 16 gallons of water. Think a gallon of milk takes an average family about 3 days to finish, if you have 16 of those gallons that is how much water we waste in a day of flushing a toilet. I am not saying that you should not flush the toilet or not use the bathroom, but that is how much water is gone from just using to toilet, not including washing your hands. Since you can’t help the number of times you flush the toilet you need to make sure that you turn off the water in the faucet and don’t day dream in the shower. These are some ways that you can save water.
Step two to save the planet, use less energy. Turn of the lights or anything that uses electricity. A fluorescent light bulb is a way to save energy; it gives off great, bright light without using too much energy. Another lighting change is a skylight they are holes in the roof of your house that bring in light. They are different colors and sizes, plus they are very elegant.
If you are still not set on this and wondering these things won’t change something this big. Think again because if we start now other people will know and get the clue, when more people know then we can start a movement. Most movements start off strong and go away in a year, but think that is not going to happen because these are little steps that we should be doing already. For an example of water saving, a small subdivision has about 10 houses, if each house saves 10 gallons of water per day that would be 70 gallons per house hold in a week. Now multiply that by 10 houses that is 700 gallons of water saved in that subdivision in a week. That is a lot of water and it is only 10 gallons of water that we need to save per. House. When people don’t want to do that, they are lazy.
There are many energy and water saving tools but do not think that you can use them more time; otherwise they will not save energy. If we do not use these steps to save our plant it will be gone. The future kids of Earth will not have a clean planet to live on; and when they die they can blame… you.

Character Analysis of Ponyboy,
A Character from S.E. Hinton’s novel, The Outsiders

Ponyboy, the littlest member of the Greasers, is built for a boy his age, with long light-brown, almost-red hair, squared off at the back, and Greenish-gray eyes. He is no cherub, but he is very smart for being part of this gang. Smoking is a big part of his life and that is something I hate about him. Something I like about him is that he is smart and makes good grades as he would say. He and I both get good grades and do go in school. Writing an essay about this character will be easy because he is in every part and adventure.
In the beginning of the novel, Ponyboy amperes to be smart, brave, and pugnacious. He gets good grades and likes to read a lot. He and a friend get in to a lot of trouble in this book and so he is brave. What also makes him brave is that he and his two brothers have to live on their own because both parents died in a car crash. “I’ll get them, don’t worry!” this quote describes how brave he is a church is burning down and there are kids in there. He goes in and gets them out before they burn to death. I could not do that, he is brave, smart, and pugnacious.
The beginning of the novel is good but the middle has a kazillion adventures. Ponyboy changes though out the novel. I would say he is more worried and thoughtful in this part of the novel. He and his best friend run away and he is worried that they will die and no one with know. He is also worried because he has to get is “tuff” hair cut off. Tuff means cool to the greasers. Thoughtful is another word to describe him, because he puts his life at risk when he goes in to the burning church to save the kids that I think is very thoughtful of him. Another thing he is nervious about is being found for the murder that his friend did, and going to jail.
In the end, once again Ponyboy changes and this time I would say he is sad and happy all at the same time. Johnny his best friend dies, that makes Pony very sad, but there is always something to be happy about. He is sad because his grades are going down, but he is happy that he can pass by a paper that he will write about Johnny’s life. After the two boys run in to the burning church they go to the hospital because they are burned pretty bad. Darry, Pony’s oldest brother runs up crying and gives pony a hug when he is released from the hospital. When the nurse tells him, “Johnny left you his copy of Gone with the Wind.” That made him happy that he could remember his friend from that. This change is mostly for the better, Johnny was in a lot of pain so now he is free of that, plus he is closer to his brothers.
All in all, in the future of Ponyboy’s life he will get better grades and get a A on the paper about Johnny’s life. He will become very close to his brothers and Darry will not be so hard on him, for once. With his brothers beside him he will lead on with his life, for it is a life that he will remember.
