October Harvest

Patriotism
Our country has come a long way with the way people are treated and their rights. Without rights we would be like little robots, being told what to believe or do and not have equal say in what happens. That is what happened years ago when minorities did not have the same rights as white people did and woman were not valued the same as a man. These things changed when someone showed patriotism for our country.
One of the cases is freedom of religion. There are many different religions practiced in the United States. What would the United States be like if we could only practice the religion we are told to? Believe it or not, at one time we all were forced to practice the same religion as everyone else. No one was teased or treated differently  for their religion, but would you like to have a say in what you learn or would you rather be told what to learn?
While we are blessed to have freedom of religion, we are also lucky to have brave young men and women that will risk their lives to go and fight. Our troops are brave in standing up for our country. Without them we could have more attacks or our country could be invaded and taken over. Every chance and time you see a soldier say, “thanks” or take a moment of silence to think of what they did for us. They are what defends our country.
Just like freedom of religion and our troops, Equal Rights help our country out a lot. Equal Rights are laws and rules that everyone has to follow. A long time ago if a colored person did the same thing as a white person they would most likely get in more trouble than the white person, but that time has gone by. More people can vote; years ago woman and minorities could not vote. Now woman and minorities are part of the government.
All in all, we should be thankful for what people have done for us. They have given their time and many others have given their lives to make the country we live in better. Every time we wake up in the morning, think and be proud of what our country is, because many people have shown patriotism for our country to make it the great place it is.
