Advise for the Class of 2016

7th Grade:

When you go to 8th grade it is not much different socially but academically it's harder. The teachers grade harder, for example the Language Arts teachers grade your essays harder. The science lessons are boring and the test are hard, but the teachers are funny and they will make your day better. Math is easy if you pay attention if you do not you will get an F, not to scare you, but you grade will reflect if you know it or not.

Some of my favorite teachers:

Mrs. Whelan, she listens and understand what you say. She is funny and has good project ideas that are not boring. You will present in front of the class a couple of times, but she understands that we do not want to go in front of the class.

Mrs. Silady, she is laid back. She draws on a white board, and marks your paper in red ink. Her love for Santa can seem creepy but she does not talk that much about it. You need to get on her good side and she will be your best friend. She loves kittens and glee. And, no matter what you do or say she still will not say orange or ice cream, her accent makes it sound weird.

Do not worry about 8th grade it is not that bad, if you make it that way.

8th Grade Refliction

Good writers get A's on every paper, ok writers get B's and C's, then there are the bad writers who get the blame for the F's in the class. I would place myself as an ok writer, not Failing but still not perfect papers. My scores were very high at the beginning of the year because of an easy grader and then the new teacher swooped in and now I do not have my A anymore. In 7th grade there was always a teacher to help me were as in 8th grade you have to be independent. I need to improve on my intro and endings, also need to not summarize. My strengths that I am good on are the making my points, and adding a visual aid to the piece. High School LA is going to be harder I am nervous to see what I will get, my writing need to get better, because the teachers will grade harder.

John Smith

The theme of the movie John Smith is the name. We watched this movie because it shows us what a live looks like and how you may feel at different ages. All of the different John Smiths all had difficulties in their life's, whether it is death's, people going away, drugs, no jobs, or they just have troubles in their lives. We all go through these things in our life's sometime, it is nice to know that there are other people with the same feelings.

Jounal 6/1

Last Thursday I went to a ice cream social to have the "What is High School Like" talk. We had many different tables, your last name was how they determined what table you are in. The many topics of the table were sports, exams, homework, studying, social life. I learned that during exams we can leave to go to lunch out side of school.Also, he said our friends will be less dramatic and the friends you have now will most of them will be your friends. High School is going to be more challenging academically than Middle School, but I it will be more fun as in football games and dances.

Journal 4/25

Over spring break I went to Colorado. My sister went to Boulder University, there for my family went to see the campus. To start our adventure off we landed at the Denver airport and went to an ihop in Denver, because I was hungry. Then we went to Vail a City known for having the highest prices for clothing but some of the best skiing mountains. In Vail I saw a lot of people skiing down little parts of the Rocky Mountains. Skiing looked like fun, but I am not good at skiing so we did not ski well we where in Vail. Next we went to our main destination Boulder. There we checked in to our hotel, set our bags on the bed and when shopping at the 28th avenue mall. After shopping we went to eat at the Dark Horse Saloon, I had a ham and cheese sandwich. After that we went to Broomfield and went to the regional Mall. Later on in the break I went to some little town that had shops. We boarded the plane in Denver and then we went home.

This American Life Reflection

Do you ever wonder how people will remember you as in 10 years? How do you want them to remember you? These are all question that where asked to people in the video. Friends and family members will remember me, but will other people. If other people remember me I hope they remember me as a nice person and not as a profanity. What do you want people to remember you as?

Journal 4/15

1.) The election of Abraham Lincoln was one of the causes of the Civil War, because he wanted to end slavery in the south and the south did not like that there for they went to war.

2.) The battle of Gettysburg once the union won this war the south could not win another battle after that.

3.) Harriot Tubman was a very important person she escorted slaves to the north. All so she was a "Conductor" or the under ground railroad.

Journal 4/14

During the 3 weeks that I had to write the story and do 20 notes on easy bib, I think I used all my class time effectively. I think that finding the notes was easiest because of how many days we got to take notes and because my book had a lot of information. On the other hand writing the essay in 3 days was a challenge for me, I do not write for the whole class time because it starts to get boring and then I do not do the essay well so I think I should have done some at home. My story will be good but I think it could be better if I gave myself more time to work on it.

1.) What did you feel like when reading this?
I cried at the memories that I had forgotten and now is the time my feelings about Abe's death are making me crazier and crazier everyday.

2.) Is it all of the significant facts on your life together put in the story?
Well most of them are but I left out some just so their just for me and my family.

3.) How did this story affect your life?
Like I said earlier I had forgotten some of the many things that have happened in my life and when writing this story I now remember a lot of what happened.

Lightning Storm

Trees crash in the middle of the night waking up the whole house
Light fills the dark cold rooms
Can't sleep when this natural nightlight peeps through the windows
I turn on a light to see if everything is ok
CRASH BOOM the lights of the house flicker on and off once then never again
In panic I reach for my phone to set an alarm for the day of school that awaits me
Lay down in the crushed up sheets I get back to sleep
Buzz Buzz the alarm rings it is 6:00 am school in an hour
The birds chirp the storm is over

Dogs

Skips, Jumps over the tall grass
Runs after bushy tail squirrels
Fights over yarn knotted together
Fetches a slobbery tennis ball
Treats galore praise there every move
Sit, Come, Stay they sometimes listen

Sleep in a circle that would kill a humans back

In the softest voice the Doctor said, "Your husband has died."

My heart sank I did not know what to say so I said what I was thinking. Sounding very dramatic I wailed, "No, my life will never be complet with out him. The day he dies my social life will die."

This is the conversation that took place after Abraham Lincoln died.

Journal 3/31

After moving to the white house I feel like I am losing family and friends. I am so proud of Abe, but I want to be with my family and their point of view too. When my sister came to me crying because her husband died in the war I think my family may need me. I feel bad for her and I would like to be there for her but she and I are on different sides. Fighting against the side my family is on is hard if I have them over to the white house then people start rumors that I am telling them the secrets from the war, but if I do not see them then I will only have Abe to lean on. That is not a bad thing it is just that I need some more people that I can trust in my life.

Journal 3/30

The thesis for my essay on the book Mary Todd Lincoln would be, growing up in Lexington,Kentucky I was born to be successful, I got that as I moved to the White House. The main point of the book is how she grew up, her experience being first lady, and her life being Widowed.

My story is going to have many characters, but I do not know who yet. It will take place in the white house and Lexington, Kentucky to show her as a child. That is all that I have planed for my story.

Journal 3/29

We are motivated by different things some can be motivated by knowing they will get something out of it for themselves, others are motivated to do something nice because they have a warm heart. The sad part is that more people are the kind that get motivated by knowing they will get something out of it, we think this way because everyone puts themselves first if you have to go to work to get money for you, you will go there are skip the helping out function you signed up for. I will admit that I am one of those people, I try to motivate myself to do as many things as I can to help but I have volleyball and other functions. A couple years ago I knew that I have to have 8 cavities filled in my teeth in about an 2 week span. My mom said that I could get toys and other stuff I wanted after I was done with all of fillings. I was selfish and took the deal, I got all the toys and that was that.

Is it ok to fight? When?

I believe that it is ok to fight when you have a valid reason to and it is not a stupid reason. When someone is fighting for what they believe then it is ok. For some examples if your brother says something mean about your best friend then you should fight to let him know that your best friend is not that way or does not act that way. When you fight over a cookie when there are more in a jar then that is stupid. Is violence necessary to be in a fight? There are times that violence is ok in a fight, like when some one is hurting you and you have to defend yourself then it is ok just make it stop in a little bit. Those are my thoughts and opinions on fighting.

With all of the changes that have come to America do we still have free will? I think that we have free will with some rules to keep us from doing stupid things. We can own land, buy what we want, and speak what we would like to say. Why I think this way is, because we still can do what we want with in some rules or laws that I think most of them are necessary. My thoughts are gathered from experience and from observing others have freedom.

Journal 3/24

If I was in control of the school my first change would be to make the laptop usage more strict, because it is so addicting to go on to a different page and get distracted from learning. Secondly I would have more homework time for each class so that students could get help if they needed. Third I would make the language arts classes or health classes have a speech unit to help kids feel more comfortable speaking in front of someone. If the laptops where not as big of a distraction students would get better grades. When a student has a question at home they may not always get the right help from their mom or dad and they could forget to ask the teacher so they would never learn it quite right, that would affect the students grade. Last in a job everyone has to speak in front of people so if they are not comfortable they are going to fail at speaking in front of their boss or colleagues. that is what I would change if I was in control of the school.

What is abortion? Abortion is when a woman kills her baby when they are still in her stomach. I think that abortion is wrong, but I also understand why some woman do abort their child. When a woman is pressured to have a kid then in some cases it is ok, but adoption is good idea too. Some woman have health diseases that could harm themselves when pregnant or even harm the baby. Abortion can be like a one in a life time fix, but there are many woman who abort all of their kids.

Another option that woman have is to go to a clinic like in the story and get some help, then after they have the baby put it up for adoption. I think every state should have a clinic like the one that is in South Dakota. The woman could also not get pregnant in the first place. Some woman feel lonely when they are pregnant because they think they are getting older or that some people don't like them for it. With the help of all the clinics they can feel that someone is there for them. There are many options of woman these day try not to make abortion your top option.

Reflection about Debate

The debate was ok it was not by favorite project but it was better than writing an essay. Standing in front of the class was very awkward having people yell back at you, but this way we can get better with talking in front of people. I would not pick this project again, but it was a good idea.

Different Storms

Leaves fly off the tree
A bird whistles in my window warning me what is down below
I don't flinch as my window starts to glow
For it will be over in no time

Waves crash the shore and tear down homes
Leaving the place looking like big foot stopped to visit

It will be ok says the crow that sits on the one tree that is left

Can human beings ever truly be equal?
Humans are all different we all look different, think different, and live different. You may think that you see eye to eye with someone else, but I do not think that is possible because an idea is many little thoughts put together. I would say no, no humans can be equal.

What would the world look like if we were?
The world would be very boring, but we would all think the same so there would not be lots of fights. There would not be two sides to every story and everyone would have the same opinion. People would not be teased because of how they dress or look. In some ways it would be good but only for a little bit because it would be so boring.

If I could have whatever Superpower I want, I would choose to read people’s minds. When my parents are mad I want to know what is going on in their head. With this superpower it would be kind of like eavesdropping. Flying would be cool but I can walk and run. If I learned to read people’s minds I would us this almost every day that is why I would want to read people's minds.
